Probably not a surprise since we’re talking health insurance, but there really isn’t a great one-stop-shop. Insurance is regulated at the State level so insurers and plans will vary. I’d start with checking the major health insurers directly (Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem and Cigna) as they operate in many states. But there could be small insurers that offer CAT plans in your state as well so Google searching might be a good resort to find specific plans in your State (and buying them direct from the insurer). Wish I could be more helpful here.
Lyme disease, caused by the spirochetal bacterium, Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (Bbsl), is typically transmitted by hard-bodied ticks (Acari: Ixodidae). Whenever this tick-borne zoonosis is mentioned in medical clinics and emergency rooms, it sparks a firestorm of controversy. Denial often sets in, and healthcare practitioners dismiss the fact that this pathogenic spirochetosis is present in their area. For distribution of Bbsl across Canada, we conducted a 4-year, tick–host study (2013–2016), and collected ticks from avian and mammalian hosts from Atlantic Canada to the West Coast. Overall, 1265 ticks representing 27 tick species belonging to four genera were collected. Of the 18 tick species tested, 15 species (83%) were positive for Bbsl and, of these infected ticks, 6 species bite humans. Overall, 13 of 18 tick species tested are human-biting ticks. Our data suggest that a 6-tick, enzootic maintenance cycle of Bbsl is present in southwestern B.C., and five of these tick species bite humans. Biogeographically, the groundhog tick, Ixodes cookei, has extended its home range from central and eastern Canada to southwestern British Columbia (B.C.). We posit that the Fox Sparrow, Passerella iliaca, is a reservoir-competent host for Bbsl. The Bay-breasted Warbler, Setophaga castanea, and the Tennessee Warbler, Vermivora peregrina, are new host records for the blacklegged tick, Ixodes scapularis. We provide the first report of a Bbsl-positive Amblyomma longirostre larva parasitizing a bird; this bird parasitism suggests that a Willow Flycatcher is a competent reservoir of Bbsl. Our findings show that Bbsl is present in all provinces, and that multiple tick species are implicated in the enzootic maintenance cycle of this pathogen. Ultimately, Bbsl poses a serious public health contagion Canada-wide. Full article
Most aspects of private health insurance in Australia are regulated by the Private Health Insurance Act 2007. Complaints and reporting of the private health industry is carried out by an independent government agency, the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman. The ombudsman publishes an annual report that outlines the number and nature of complaints per health fund compared to their market share [10]

I do mention in my commentary at the end of the post (and comments beneath the post) that health sharing ministries are an option we’ll be exploring. It wasn’t detailed because that’s a current option and has been for many years. This post was written to highlight new options made possible by the recent Tax Reform. Kitces just published a great overview of the four biggest health sharing ministries. I like ESI Money’s post, as well.

Every year, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department reviews all proposed health insurance rates and changes to existing rates for plans in the individual and small group markets. We have a number of resources available to help consumers understand this process and obtain information about requested and approved changes to their rates. For more information on the health insurance rate review process and to see a list of these resources, click here.
Short Term Medical plans are medically underwritten so they will be most suitable for healthy individuals without pre-existing conditions or expensive medications. Keep in mind that when you renew a STM plan you have to medically qualify each renewal term. So, if you have a medical situation occur while enrolled in a STM they can not drop your coverage but they can deny you the option to renew it at the end of your term.
So why are we hearing that average rates are decreasing? It turns out that average benchmark premiums (as opposed to overall average premiums) in states that use HealthCare.gov are decreasing slightly for 2019. The benchmark plan is defined as the second-lowest-cost silver plan in each area (it's also a term used to describe the basic set of benefits that must be covered in each area, but that's not the definition we're talking about here).

This has been very controversial. On one hand, people in that situation (i.e., having to pay full price for a health insurance policy in the individual market, which can easily cost 20+ percent of a person's income if they're just a little over the income limit for subsidy eligibility) are desperate for lower-cost alternatives. And if they're healthy, they may very well be willing to take a gamble and settle for a less robust plan that's easier to fit into their budget.
Colombia’s 1991 constitution not only listed a right to health care, but also established a new legal tool called the tutela that allows citizens to easily make legal claims about their fundamental constitutional rights. Through the tutela, Colombians can present their problems to a judge. The judge then must decide within 10 days whether their fundamental rights have been violated, and if so, assign an appropriate remedy. The Colombian Constitutional Court has recognized the right to health care as a fundamental right.
Telemedicine enables health professionals to provide services to you remotely, at lower costs, if you don't require physical contact with a doctor or nurse. Instead of coming into an office, you can communicate with doctors and nurses online. Doctors can help and diagnose far more patients this way, which is why purchasing a plan through eHealth that covers telemedicine may be more convenient and affordable.
“Humana” is the brand name for plans, products, and services provided by one or more of the subsidiaries and affiliate companies of Humana Inc. (“Humana Entities”). Plans, products, and services are solely and only provided by one or more Humana Entities specified on the plan, product, or service contract, not Humana Inc. Not all plans, products, and services are available in each state.
As a result, insurers in some states were scrambling to adjust their 2018 premiums in the latter half of October. For example, Colorado’s exchange was already in the process of loading 2018 rates into their system when the Trump Administration announced that CSR funding would not continue. The initial rates were based on the assumption that CSR funding would continue, although the state had backup rates that included the cost of CSR built into the premiums. But the exchange had to start over on October 13 with the process of loading the backup rates into the system, which delayed the availability of window shopping.

Group health insurance in the United States has evolved during the 20th century. The idea of collective coverage first entered into public discussion during World War I and the Great Depression. Soldiers fighting in the First World War received coverage through the War Risk Insurance Act, which Congress later extended to cover servicemen’s dependents. In the 1920s, healthcare costs increased to the point that they exceeded most consumers’ ability to pay. The Great Depression exacerbated this problem dramatically, but resistance from the American Medical Association and the life insurance industry defeated several efforts to establish any form of a national health insurance system. This opposition would remain strong into the 21st century.

Consider adding an Accident, Hospitalization or Indemnity policy to whichever option you choose if you have a high deductible or don’t have nationwide coverage. An ACI plan can help cover first-dollar expenses if you have an accident or specified illness. This is a particularly good idea for ACA plans with high deductibles and/or lacking nationwide coverage. Click Here for details.

There are two major types of insurance programs available in Japan – Employees Health Insurance (健康保険 Kenkō-Hoken), and National Health Insurance (国民健康保険 Kokumin-Kenkō-Hoken). National Health insurance is designed for people who are not eligible to be members of any employment-based health insurance program. Although private health insurance is also available, all Japanese citizens, permanent residents, and non-Japanese with a visa lasting one year or longer are required to be enrolled in either National Health Insurance or Employees Health Insurance.
Sclerostin modulation is a novel therapeutic bone regulation strategy. The anti-sclerostin drugs, proposed in medicine for skeletal bone loss may be developed for jaw bone indications in dentistry. Alveolar bone responsible for housing dentition share common bone remodeling mechanisms with skeletal bone. Manipulating alveolar bone turnover can be used as a strategy to treat diseases such as periodontitis, where large bone defects from disease are a surgical treatment challenge and to control tooth position in orthodontic treatment, where moving teeth through bone in the treatment goal. Developing such therapeutics for dentistry is a future line for research and therapy. Furthermore, it underscores the interprofessional relationship that is the future of healthcare. Full article
Very important topic but not too early to run it. One can change as early as October 1st since the easiest ACA tax exemption is the lack of insurance coverage was for three months or less. (Talking to an insurance agent this harmed the market with poor families rolling the dice on their health to have more holiday money.) Plus all independent contractors (not just FIRE folks) should be looking into the offerings coming this Fall.

Outside of that time, you can qualify for Special Enrollment Period with “qualifying life events”. Some of these events include divorce, loss of employment, income change, new dependents, or moving to a new area. You will have to prove that you had a qualifying life event, and find health insurance within a certain window of time. Shopping with the help of resources at eHealth helps make this process faster, and get you covered as soon as possible.
